Yeah, but do you know how? There are things called objectives that you have, you have to find out what they are though. Some objectives get you paid, that's why you have that money pouch on you now. The silver gets instantly transferred to that thing. Other objectives give you good feelings, or somethings you get both the good feelings and getting paid. The more silver you make, the easier it'll be for you to buy things and rise up in ranks.

[Grabs the money pouch at the mention of it and gives it a little shake, though it is empty]

That sounds familiar, yes. Well, I'm sure that won't be a problem, once I figure out just what mine are.

So tell me, who's on top now?

Whoever's ranked up the highest, to be honest. That changes rather quickly though so even if you know who's on top now, the next day it could be someone else.

I see... And, ah, just where exactly do you fit in?

[gabutyra]

Me? I'm still a Pawn, but my servant is a Rook. There are master/servant relationships here, but a lot of it is just so people get paid more. Whatever you get, your master gets. Whatever your master gets, you get. And whoever else is a servant to that master also helps too. It's basically like a pyramid scheme except everyone wins.

...Servant ranking above master? My, my, wouldn't that cause some fits back at the house. What exactly does that take, then? Getting a servant, I mean.

Anyone who's willing? You just need to write your names down in the book at the shrine and the master needs to give the servant a trinket to signify the bond.

Well, a servant can't have two masters. And a servant can't be a master to someone else if they already have a master-- unless they pay a lot of silver to make it happen.

So there are some limitations, then. I suppose I'll just have to do some getting to know people.

Well, there's also the fact that. Someone could force you to be their servant. I mean, I haven't seen anyone do it but I'm sure there are people who would try just to get rank.

You're going to end up staying in the Pawn/Knight dorms, but it's free to stay there and there's food in the kitchen. You don't need silver unless you want to buy back your personal goods or for other stuff to do around here. But basic necessities are free.

Court takes away all your things except the clothes on your back. You have to buy them back.

[His eyes widen as he starts to frantically pat down his pockets.]

[Runs a hand through his hair as he tries to calm down.]
